Research assistant Ruminants

Every year, De Heus carries out a large number of application-oriented tests for, among other things, the development of new feed concepts and additives and the evaluation of feed values. These tests are carried out at our own test farms or contracted out to independent research institutes. A practical evaluation often takes place before the implementation of new concepts and products in the market.

As a research assistant you are partly responsible for carrying out the research; collecting data, preparing further analysis and processing data and reporting outcomes.

We are looking for a jack-of-all-trades to supervise the research that we carry out on our test farms and in practice, who closely monitors the execution of the tests in close contact with the dairy farmers. This means that you regularly visit the experimental farms to critically assess the animals and the feeding and to act appropriately if unforeseen issues arise.

You will also be involved in:

• Develop, keep up-to-date and improve work instructions and protocols for the research together with the R&D team;
• Plans for the various activities in the study;
• Coordinate the sampling and analysis of feeds and milk samples;
• Accessing data from management systems and setting up the research database that can be used for statistical evaluation.

What do we ask of you?

You have at least a completed (agricultural) HBO education and a strong affinity with practical cattle nutrition. In addition, you have already gained relevant work or practical experience. Just as important is your affinity with research, data processing and reporting research results. Your precise and detailed way of working fits in well with this.

You are a real controller, you take initiative, you are creative and you can work independently. You are regularly en route to the various dairy farmers, so you are in possession of a valid driver's license. You are described by your environment as a real team player and you have excellent oral and written communication skills, also in the English language.
